Summer Learning Access Initiative
The Summer Learning Access Initiative brings free summer learning programs to six neighborhood sites so that Harborview children have convenient access to enrichment and instruction during the school break.
Milestone Progress
Start Date: 12/28/2025 End Date: 10/24/2026
Quarterly Analysis
The initiative remains green at 30% complete, up 3 percentage points from 27% in 2026-Q1. Across the eight-quarter arc, the work has moved steadily from a 9% baseline to 30% complete without losing the fundamentals: site selection for the 6 neighborhood locations is complete, and instructor hiring and training remains in-progress. Enrollment opens and summer session launch are still not-started, which is the clearest next threshold for turning strong preparation into direct family access. The result is healthy and forward-looking, but the resident promise now depends on moving from readiness to activation with the same care.
Recommendations
Sustain the green status by completing a go/no-go checklist for each of the 6 sites covering staffing, supplies, technology, safety, meals, and family communications. Extend the initiative by scheduling enrollment-opening rehearsals with call-center staff, branch librarians, and recreation front desks so residents get consistent answers. Set the next-quarter action target around launching enrollment only after instructor coverage and site readiness are verified, then use waitlist data to decide whether to add pop-up seats at libraries or community centers.
