Teacher Recruitment & Retention Initiative
The Teacher Recruitment and Retention Initiative strengthens the district’s teaching workforce through signing bonuses for hard-to-staff subjects, an early-career mentorship program, and a retention dashboard built from exit-survey data.
Milestone Progress
Start Date: 11/28/2025 End Date: 10/24/2026
Quarterly Analysis
The initiative moved from 49% to 55% complete, a +6 percentage point quarter-over-quarter increase, and closes this sequence in green. That steady climb from 13% in 2024-Q3 to 55% in 2026-Q2 tells me the team has built a durable operating cadence rather than chasing one-time announcements. The signing bonuses for hard-to-staff subjects remain complete and are now embedded in recruitment planning for the next school year. Mentorship remains in-progress, with mentor coverage mapped by campus and subject, and principals are using the end-of-year conferences to identify which early-career teachers need summer support. The exit-survey + retention dashboard is still not-started, and it is now the clearest unfinished management tool in an otherwise well-managed initiative.
Recommendations
Protect the green status by carrying forward the bonus pool and publishing a summer hiring calendar with decision deadlines for every hard-to-staff vacancy. Extend mentorship into a year-two retention bridge, including June planning sessions and August classroom setup support for returning early-career teachers. Prioritize the exit-survey + retention dashboard as the next deliverable, with a 90-day build plan, named HRIS owner, and first report focused on preventable departures by school, subject, and years of service.
